My Heart Will Go On

Our morning walk took us through the Fairview Lawn Cemetery, which is best known as the final resting place of over 100 of the victims of the sinking of the Titanic. Grey stones told of bravery and tragedy. One marker was dedicated to the Unknown Child, recently identified, through DNA testing, as 19 month old Sidney Leslie Goodwin, who perished with his entire family. People have left little toys and pennies. I wished I had some small token in my purse, but I could only find chewing gum and Tylenol, which didn’t capture the spirit of the thing at all.😊. Doug took a picture of me at the cemetery and I look far too smiley. I was looking straight into the sun and when I squint I smile. They go together. I was not laughing at the Titanic.! Doug has a design meeting today by Zoom. We cannot get far enough away to escape church meetings!! The Universal Presence does indeed seem to be everywhere, including Halifax. But, this may be a good day for meetings. The wind is peripatetic - its lack of direction is annoying and hints that rain is coming so better get our plans accomplished early. We have pulled the lawn chair cushions inside, just in case. We returned to Africville to see the little museum, which is open today. Community stories and songs are represented in audio recordings in the small exhibit. No photographs, please.
