Wooden Monkey
We took our morning walk in Bedford but I don’t think we found the original village- over the years Bedford has traded its downtown for strip malls. So tomorrow, we will try again to locate the surviving part of downtown Bedford.
However we did find the Golden Bakery, which offers an assortment of Middle Eastern baked goods and other ethnic food. We bought a little bag of fancy cookies. Dessert for tonight.
At lunch, we met with our great niece, Katie, who is from Ontario, but who now lives in Halifax. She works in an eco-biology position. It was great to visit with this lovely, lively young woman, who introduced us to the youthful side of Halifax ( now we know where Pizza Corner is…3 pizzerias at one intersection downtown) and who updated us on all the Koch family news. We had a yummy meal at a restaurant called The Wooden Monkey.
On Katie’s recommendation, we visited Mission Mart, a thrift store (along the lines of Value Village) supporting Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, working with Halifax homeless, addicted and hungry. I got a t- shirt and Doug found a rain jacket. You have the option of rounding up the bill "for the Mission”. Fill your cart and your heart at Mission Mart!
Good catch phrase! Is that yours or the Mission Mart's?
ReplyDeleteMission Mart’s. I thought it was good, too.
